PROJECT BRIEFING

Gilmore Design & Fabrication is a full service design and fabrication studio located in East Williamsburg, NY.

They specialize in custom metal work, wood work, and installation and their projects range from custom furniture,

bespoke architectural elements for residential and retail, and scenic sets for film, TV and events. Charlie, the owner,

reached out about developing a website for the company along with some merchandise.

This project was especially fun because I was able to be onsite for a day to capture photos of Charlie at work. I photographed him welding,

using an electric saw, operating a power drill, and other machinery throughout the workshop. It informed the visual language

and aesthetic of the website. I employed a collaging technique to create depth with the photographs.

For the merchandise I wanted to create a logo that reflected the work that Gilmore Fabrication does.

I was inspired by old video game console logos and envisioned something three-dimensional.

I created a model in Blender and then experimented with lighting it different ways and capturing screenshots.

These are few different versions of the logo that I created for the initial draft.

The company actually decided to print two of the designs, and I also created a front side graphic for a pocket-style tee as well.
